When I set up the headset it doesnt feel at all immersive - in fcat it feels as if I am looking at a very small screen from some distance - far smaller than sitting looking at my 15" monitor - Is this right did I misunderstand the 62" screen at 9 feet which felt as if it should be much more immersive to look at

All help much appreciated

David

Are you talking about VR920?

It actually looks similar to size of my 22" monitor when I'm sitting in front of it, maybe a little smaller (like 21" monitor I suggest).
However I believe that focus distance for eyes to virtual screen is like 9 feet.

62" screen from 9 feet, gives you about 32 degree of Field Of View, it's not immersive by itself, but with head-tracking & stereo it does immerse.
Try it with Crysis, I'm absolutely hooked up by this game in VR920, if you will need any help in setup, you can ask me.
