Hello,

great product, before I buy this baby I would like to quickly check if the vr920 will also work without connecting it to a PC or other device with the drivers installed, but with just a video source feeding the VGA connector.

Would this work?
I know that audio, 3d vision and so on are out of the question, I'm talking about plain old video.

VR920 get power supply by USB, if you powered it somehow I think it would work.
But for non-PC usage I would recommend you AV920 or AV310.

Thank you, you're right, the other models better designed for pure video.

My goal was to find an all-in-one model to try different things on, but I suppose that is not the typical consumer approach!

Hello!

I also want to use the VR920 for other uses than the PC.

What I've found is that the glasses need USB Enumeration.

If you connect the glasses VGA port to a Portable DVD player, TV-to-VGA converter or other device with VGA Output, and the USB plug to a standard wall charger you will not have an image.

But if you connect the USB plug to a computer, and use the alternative VGA source such as the portable DVD player, it will work.

So, in order to have a "mobile TV" glasses it's necessary to power the VR920 with a power source that starts USB Enumeration.

Any PC can do enumeration even without starting the Operating System.

This website explains USB Enumeration by explaining how to build a DIY power adapter

I believe that other devices such an iPod or iPhone works the same way, so that a wall charger for those devices might work.
I don't have any to make an experiment, but if anyone could test it would be a good help.
