Hello.

My apologies for bringing this subject up once again. I have read through all the topics in this forum regarding the headtracking feature. So far, I haven't found a single post, with advice that worked for me. I may have missed something... but here goes:

Rig: A shuttle PC model SX38P2 Pro (Intel X38 chipset) running on an Intel Q9300 CPU, 4 GB ram, and a 8800GT. OS is Vista Ultimate (32 bit).

Although I do have other games, that supposedly support headtracking, FSX has been my primary concern. (FSX, standard edition, updated to SP2.) I managed to get the headtracking to work once. When version 2.3 of the drivers came out. I have absolutely NO idea how. My pc was recently reinstalled, so FSX is now a clean install also. I have of course tried downgrading the drivers from 2.4 to 2.3, but the tracking in FSX still doesn't work now. I have tried all the suggestions I could find on this forum; copying the files manually, pointing to the directory, where FSX is installed (not the default one). No go.

When I booted up FSX the first time, after I used the Iwear monitor to install the files automatically, it did ask me whether I wanted to run Itracker.dll (forgot the exact name...) and make it run everytime FSX started. I clicked yes. No go though. No tracking inside the game whatsoever. And furthermore, I noticed that it, for some reason, disabled the normal mouselook function of the game. (When you hold space and move the mouse, you can look around...) The little cross appears as normal, when spacebar is pressed, but no view panning when the mouse is moved. Dont know if this has anything to do with anything.

I KNOW for a fact, that the tracking works. It calibrates just fine, and those little applications, that comes with the driver downloads nowadays, works just fine too. (that psychedelic music player for instance...) :-)

Anyway: If there is anyone in here, preferably someone running Vista as well, that has this thing working as it should, I would be profoundly greatful, if you could give me the exact instructions as to how you got it working... Cause this thing is starting to get on my nerves.

/Anders

Hello everybody,

I write in that post becouse Cronoz has explained perfectly the problem so I'm in the same situation. I have look around the forum but no results. Only in that post (maybe can help you):
http://forums.vuzix.com/Topic3903-2-1.aspx
it talk about the problem and how to solve it, but the links and script information don't work.

Finally, I would like to ask again abount that problem and how to solve it, or only any answer to that questions:
- the default instalation files of the monitor are in the correct place for windows vista? i have checked and in vista we don't have the 'Document and Settings folder, so it installs in Users->....
- have anyone a valid script for GlovePie to run fsx with tracking??

Lot of thanks, best regards,

Edu

Ok....

I've got it working now... The tracking, that is. And the thing is: I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA, why it suddenly works. Maybe all the reinstallations of FSX I did, did something.

As far as I can recall, I haven't changed anything, since the last time I tried. I dont get it... Anyhow:

Ran into another problem though. It seems that sometimes...not always, but often enough to be a pain in the....neck... when you press CTRL+F8 (to access the on-screen menu of the VR920), and then try to disable stereoscopy, it will crash my system completely, briefly displaying a BSoD. Not long enough for me to read the actual error message, though. And when the pc reboots, it is necessary to completely unplug the VR920 to make it work again.

Very strange... I'm thinking it must be a driver issue, and have decided to wait for the next release of the drivers.

If any of the programmers/support staff is reading this, I have a suggestion for an added feature to the next drivers, that might proove useful: Having finally succeded in making the tracking in FSX work, I have noticed that the glasses tend to "drift" to the right, so to speak, meaning that even if i center the calibration, using the calibrator, before starting FSX, and trying not to move, before the simulation is loaded, the actual view in the game might be slightly off center, causing me to have to turn my head maybe 20-30 degrees to one side, in order to look straight forward in the game, relative to the cockpit/dashboard.

I have tried resetting the tracking in the calibrator with FSX running, but it seems that once the game is loaded, it uses the settings from the calibrator as it was at the time of loading, so resetting does nothing.

So, to put it shortly: Some feature to use, with a game (such as FSX) running, that would maybe have a button you could press, to center the view to look straight forward again, instead of having to turn your head IRL, to look straight out the in the game, relative to the cockpit/dashboard. (Did that make sense? And...is that even possible?)

Cronoz,

Glad to hear you have your tracking issues sorted out for the most part. As far as the centering issue goes; the center point for the tracking should be the point you designate from the "Set Zero" button in the iWear VR920 Calibrator. One of the things that can sometimes affect this is the presence of metal or magnetic objects in close proximity to the VR920. For example I have noticed that with my cell phone on my desk it can cause slight movements on all the tracking axis (although it seems to mostly affect the yaw). Let me know if this is something you might be experiencing.
