Hey guys, I was able to get it unbricked and updated by plugging it into a different computer. Thanks for your help! Never been happier to see a blue screen! LOL

cirk2,
Did the updater actually display a message saying your unit was incompatible? If it did not, then its something else. If it is confirmed to be one of those few, it will be replaced.

Is there an extra message for incompatible Vr920?
It just say, "Your Vr920 canot be updated. Pleas contact Vuzix Tecnical support".

I tried the firmware update on my second device, it ran through and updated everything, but now only the left display works the right one is only white. If i restart the update, the software says its upto date.

The first one remains a brick, its still unknown by windows. Tried it on different usb-ports and different computers. cant update.

Edit: Strange, after some minutes the displays show different patterns and flickering and then they work fine.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa stupid computers !!!!!

i have now tryed it on 4 different computers and a laptop

everyone of them detect a new device a ballon pops up with unknown , then the new hardware wizard opens and i select no for the first part then i click auto install and it searches for a second and then says cannot complete wizard and i click finish

my vr920 is no longer computer compatible how am i ment to unbrick it with the update if it doesnt communicate with my pc :S

this is realy annoying , im suprized i havnt smashed this thing into little peices yet , i guess they will work well as sun glasses as the only thing they do is block light from your eyes

Haaaaa I'm so pissed off!! My VR920 was working fine until I tried to update it! I keep having an error during the firmware update >_<

"The update process encoutered an error. Please unplug your VR920, then plug it back in and try again".

I'm gonna try to uninstall everything and try again...

Edit:

Well well, I uninstall everything, ran CCleaner to make sure everything was removed. Installed everything again, and it still didn't work.

BUT, I reboot the computer and ran windows in safe mode... it updated perfectly

So I'm guessing one of my software was in conflict with the update installer ... ?!

Anyway it's working well now!

VadersApp's problem is a known issue, but that is the first time I have heard of it happening on the RIGHT screen. Normally it happens on the left screen. It fixes itself after about 5 minutes. It should only happen when you plug it in, then the signal manages to sync itself and it works until you unplug it. You can't send it back unless it takes 15 minutes or more to sync itself. They recommend solving the problem by just leaving it plugged in.
