It may not look as good as intended originally (textures seems to be missing) but the Vuzix Stuff works well enough, so you can use it to understand what to do yourself. After I got this problem solved I was able to make my own code work really well with nice textures and all in a couple of hours

Steps to fix:
<SPAN lang=EN-US style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; My apologies if this information has been posted before but I've seen a few posts asking about the nvidia stereo drivers and thought I'd share a couple of links.

This first link here is an excellent guide on installing the drivers and getting them working, it has the 91.31 drivers that Nvidia still list on their site, but also has the lesser known 162.50 drivers these were released just before nvidia droped all support in favour of zalman displays, they are beta's but I have used them fine, they have a far better game support list and were also supposed to add geforce 8 series support (i've not tested that part personally as I have a pair of 7900's in sli that work fine)

The next link here is an old link from stereo3d.com but it is an excellent guide into how the nvidia drivers work and how you can configure them yourself and is well worth a read. Unfortunatly the link towards the bottom of the page for the nvidia stereo profile editor has long since died this was a cool tool to save game profiles and allow people to share them you can see the page as it was on the web archive here the profiles I'm sure are long gone but if anyone knows where to get a copy of the app please post up the link.

If I think of any other links or info I'll add it on to this post.
How to play the movies you get from Vuzix ?

Good Day

I just got my VR920, installed on XP SP2, I have an ATI Radeon X800pro GT GFX card, using direct x 9c.

So far ive only tried WoW with the glasses, 3d with Vuzix drivers works, though head tracking wont let me look up or down at the moment.

Ok I bought the software titles from Vuzix when I ordered my eyewear.

Haunted Castle, SoS planet, Ultimate Gs, Alien Adventure & Encounters in the 3rd Dimension.

Ive got windows media player, power DVD, nero media players & just installed "steroscopic" media player by some guy called Peter Wimmer.

Insert DvD, lets say Haunted Castle, play in windows media player, title screen comes up, see the option " 2d or 3d" click 3d option, movie starts, but all i can still see the left & right images on the screen, ie. not steroscopically combined ! - no 3d effect.

Can anyone advise what I am doing wrong ?

is it something as obvious as " you need the nvidia drivers"....

any help appreciated

VR920 Stereo config tweaks! (Guild Wars)

Hi guys!
I was trying to mess about with the config file for CoD4 to make it work for guild wars and need some help! :D
It works quite well...the only things disturbing are the character selection after the login window, the skillbar and the radar. My theory is that they are 2D and have only 2 virtual axes, but are treated like a 3D generated object. They have no depth and so they're not turned in a circle but just moved along the vertical axis by the stereoscopy config.
Maybe my explanation is just shit...but my reason for this way of thinking is the fact, that all other menues, like the inventory or the option menus etc work properly...
Someone got an idea how to fix that? Maybe change the graphical attributes of the skillbar etc in the program itself?

greetz Twel

Can't play 3d movies or play 3d games :(

Hi there, well here's my problem... I've just bought a vr920, it works perfect as my primary screen and to watch movies; but when I try to play my games (Half Life 2, Counter Strike: Source and Second Life) it doesn't work as I expect... I can't see anything but the usual screen in 2d. I've follow all the instructions about the IWear Monitor, but When I try to "Add" my games it doesn't work, I have a different problem for each one, as follows:

Counter strike source, STATUS: Not installed on this system.

When I try to Add it, it says:

STATUS: Installation...Failed to Copy a Critical file...

In second life says:

STATUS: Installation...Unsupported version installed for this extension...

In second life I guess the solution is as simple as installing the version required. But I want to play Counter Strike That's why I bought my vr920!:D.

Also I've just downloaded the stereoscopic player and some small movies along with it, but I can't whatch the movies in 3d, I have followed the instructions placed in another post but can't make it work.

BTW, my machine specs are here: http://www.tabletpcreview.com/price/product.asp?productFamilyID=722&productID=

I'm a linux user... it's not confortable to change to xp or vista but I'm trying to use all the vr920 features... hihihi ;) I would love to have linux compatibility.. I'll work on it.
I'm sorry about my english.
EDITED. When I double click on that icon on my desktop, instantly I get some sort of windows security warning and I can't even tell what it is warning me about cuz that box is blank and my computer freezes up on me and the only way to get things going again is just to reboot my machine!
Any of this sound familiar to anybody else? Anybody have any suggestions? lol for the relatively computer illiterate, step by step instructions on some sort of fix would really be appreciated! By the way, I THINK...... I have managed to get the latest driver stuff in, the stereo...whatever it is...! I know there's a new driver for Vista in the works that will activate the 3D options and I can't wait for that, but at this point first things first, right??? ;-)

F.E.A.R. I got the VR920 working nicely in my own 3d programs in VS/C++.

Now XNA 3.0 is out and Im finding C# much easier to work in. Is there a plan for an XNA library to add support for the VR920? Im interested mainly in the stereo 3D more than the tracking, but both would be nice.

Alternatively - shouldnt I be able to make an unmanaged DLL with the VR920 SDK in C++ and consume it in managed C#/XNA as long as my games are targeted for Windows, not the Xbox?

SDK doesn't work for latest bios?

I installed the latest BIOS update. However, I noticed that aiming becomes a real problem. When you set the "scope" on, neither of your eyes are right above the aim... so if you look with your left eye evertyhing you shoot will seem to drift right, and vice-versa for the other eye; if you keep them both open, the gun is blurry. So, generally, anyone have good advice as to how to play shooters using 3D and not losing accuracy? Preferably, anyone know how you can get the sights to line-up correctly?

stereo separation

Hello, sorry to all my English.
They are the new forum, some of you know tell me if there is the possibility to adjust the stereo separation on vr 920 with FSX because I see the effect 3d almost split and I meet his eyes.
Thank you all for your help.

Vuzix 3D driver problem

Hello i´m back; ive just received my new vr920 with the latest firmware upgrades and the vuzix 3D driver, my old icuiti vr920 went bricked with the first firmware upgrade and this is the first time im able to use the vuzix 3D. The thing is that for example the 3d works well with the two sample games that comes with the driver disc and are native 3D but when using the vuzix 3d in games from the vuzix monitor like TF2, Dystopia or HL2 i have only tryed this games so far, it goes 3d and it is very good but only while there is nothing moving in the screen, if y move the mouse or something moves through the screen the 3d effect breaks until everything is still again, it is a weird sensation for the eyes and totally unusable; i have tried with and without Vsynch and postprocessings but it still the same.

What i am doing wrong? This will make Crysis look more real, improve framerates and also fix the glitch with the water. It will bring Crysis to near Very High levels (minus some DX10 effects that aren't really supported anyway). With my current rig (see sig) I am getting a pretty smooth 40 FPS average in vuzix-stereo 3D w/ VR920 @ 1024 x768!!!! At 800 x 600 it is very possible to reach 60 FPS+ with this mod.

You can download it here:
http://www.crysis-online.com/forum/index.php/topic,20630.0.html

I didn't make this. I just found it on another forum, this is the best mod for Crysis that I know of. The game will look better and play smoother. It comes with its own installer, it is very simple to setup. I installed it to "Level 4" which is recommended for 8800 GT or better. Tested in Vista, but it should work fine in XP as well. If you are on Vista make sure to right-click and do "Play in DirectX9" when you launch the game. If you have an older card, it may make Crysis at least playable. Hope you guys enjoy.

not able to install driver

Hi,

I try to install the drivers for the VR920 at my laptop but got a message "no hardware files found at this location"

The hardwarefiles are at the CD rom so why the files are "missing"?

my equipment: toshiba satelite laptop, 2 GB Ram.

when i install at two other different laptops,no problem, a blue screen and calibrator is working. The first attempt I got tracking but no 3D and everything ran smooth.

Now I have native 3D working also however I'm getting pretty bad lag through my goggles, when I look at my monitor everything runs smooth but when I view through my goggles it jittery.

Is there anything I can do to either switch off the Stereo or to reduce / remove the jitter ?

Cheers

Des

P.S. I am hoping to upgrade to SLI at some point and it would be nice to know if it was supported or not. I guess practically, a single card should be enough to run at 1024x768, but I'm curious to know it if works.

Expanding the 3D effect

I am not a techie but I do understand what makes 3D stereo work very well (I've actually drawn blue and red 3D pix that work!!). The stereo effect in IL2 works but outside the cockpit it looses much if not all the stereo effect. I know that what gives stereo it's depth - or lack there of - is the amount of separation between each viewpoint.

Again, I'm not a techie but is there someone who could write a simple step by step of how to simply set the side to side vantage points further apart to increase the stereo effect? Am I asking for the impossible?

Half Life 2

Hi,

I want to know if stereo native driver works with Half Life 2. I saw on other forum that it does, but they don't precise if they have 3D with native or NVidia drivers. So my question :

Does Half Life 2 (Ep1 + Ep2) works with native drivers ?

Thanks !

Seb
VR920 shipped...just waiting for entertainement.

Question about last driver

(Sorry for my English, I'm French)

Hi,

I've just bought VR920 on the Edimensional Website. I have a Windows XP based PC with AMD Athlon XP 2000+ and ATI 9600 Pro. I bought this glasses after reading on an other forums that now, it's not obliged to have stereoscopic drivers from NVidia to have 3D effect but only native driver from Vuxiz.

I just want to now if it's true because I red the FAQ and there is no news about that. Can I expect VR920 work with my ATI based card ?

The other question is if the firware update is a risked operation, because I saw on your forum that some persons have broken VR920 after update and some person are obliged to repeat the upgrade operation a lot of time (is it normal ?). Is this problem fixed ?

Thanks a lot
Other question : how to use the stereoscopic effect on linux or Mac ? Will Developpement on the VR920 be on different OS ?
