hello! :D
I've recently added native VR920 support to my homemade first-person shooter, Le Cauchemar. It's not a finished game yet, more of a weird-looking tech demo:

The VR920 stereo is working nicely (off-axis, deep and weighty). I've defaulted the head-tracking to pitch+roll only, because for some reason I cannot get sensible yaw values from my VR920... There is an option in-game to enable the yaw, but it might be reversed yaw, I really can't tell :hehe:

If you want to give it a spin, the download is at http://download.programmerart.org and it includes full source code too.
There's more info in the release notes on that download page.

I hope it works as well for you as it does for me! (or better, actually, since I have no yaw). I recommend enabling the "VR920 max speed" option if you have a fast PC. The game can be switched to English from the main pause menu.

Please let me know if you encounter any difficulties, or if the default stereo settings don't feel just right

Cheers,
phil

DIVA - Database Immersive Visual Analysis

Greetings to all community!
I want to introduce you project called DIVA.
This project would be mainly interesting for database developers, and 3DUI researchers.

It's a tool with 3D User Interface, focused on open-minded database developers that are willing to improve their work with databases.

With this software we trying to achieve usable 3D interface for viewing database logical structures. New visualization of foreign-key dependencies allowed us to create a tool that show large-scale databases in compact & interactive 3D form, and allow to view and analyze every dependency step by step.

To create interactive 3D model of database - DIVA reads database's export script (DDL / SQL). Current release of DIVA v.0.17 works great with Oracle and MsSQL DBMS, MySQL is also supported, but still can be buggy. Use only non-unicode scripts. Unicode is not supported by current version of DIVA.

There was also research in implementing Virtual-Reality manipulation techniques (with low-cost VR devices) in this immersive environment.
We used Vuzix VR920 headset and P5 data glove.
You can see more details in one of our videos "Tutorial 3 - Virtual Reality".

Warning! All innovations can be hard to understand, so please watch our videos before you try application itself, to get clear view of what's going on

Videos, screenshots, and free-version of DIVA, available on our website, hope you will like it.
http://diva.3dvrm.com/

Native stereo and tracking for AssaultCube

Deleted

New 2.4 software is out.

and bunch of other awesome improvements (like QWET 1.5 support )

new AV310 Widescreen

I saw the announce of new AV310 Widescreen (16:9) goggles here:

http://vr920.com/iwear/products_av310w.html

Interesting to know what resolution do they have?

Maybe soon we will see new widescreen version of VR920?

New VR920 v2.3 software release

I have great news - we have just posted new VR920 software v2.3 on our Downloads page (http://www.vuzix.com/support/downloads_drivers.html).

This new release is packed with goodies you've been asking for:
Second Life:
A new "native mode" Second Life Viewer is included with full 3D stereoscopic video and head tracking.

64-bit Support:
You've been asking for it, and it's here at last, full 64-bit support for Windows XP and Vista with all makes and models video cards. our guys have been working hard on this and all 64-bit compatible games supported by the iWearMonitor or with native mode support now work with the VR920 on 64-bit systems.

Support for 8 more games:
· Age of Conan
· Goliath
· Madden NFL 2007
· Madden NFL 2008
· NBA Live 2007
· Toblo
· Tomb Raider Anniversary
· WarBirds

iWearMonitor Enhancements:
With so many titles not being supported, our Supported Titles list was becoming cumbersome. The changes in this version of iWearMonitor provide an alphabetized list and an option to show only those titles installed on your system. So, when you install the new version of iWearMonitor, don't be surprised if the number of displayed titles is much shorter. Just de-select the "Show Installed Titles Only" checkbox and you'll see more titles that ever before.

Enjoy the new software and thank you for your continued support.

Ron Haidenger
Product Manager, Consumer Division
Vuzix Corporation

Native tracking for Cube 1

Deleted

VR920 support for sView

deleted

Vuzix S3D driver works in several other D3D Games

If you copy the D3D9.dll or/and D3D8.dll and the config file into other game directories you can enable S3D with typing ctrl F8 ingame.

Tested with LFS and some D3D demos.

But i didn´t find out how to get more convergence or seperation by changing the config file. Instructions for applying the update are provided as a separate download file as well as included in the update file set. Be sure to read these instructions thoroughly before attempting to apply the firmware update.

Vuzix 3D Drivers: This firmware update release (v1.1.0) enables the VR920 to utilize Vuzix 3D Drivers when used in conjunction with iWear software version 1.1.0 or greater. The Vuzix 3D Drivers enable the iWear VR920 to display supported titles in 3D stereoscopy using virtually any brand of graphics cards operating in Windows XP or Vista.

Update Compatibility: There is a ‘very small’ number of early production VR920’s that are not compatible with this firmware update. The update software recognizes these units and advises the user to contact Customer Support for assistance, without affecting the operating ability of the unit. Customer Support will determine if message was due to incompatibility or another cause and address the matter accordingly.

Bricked Units: Some VR920s failed after an update attempt using the earlier pre-release candidate of the firmware updater. This new update will recover ‘bricked’ VR920s, returning them to full operation. The update may have to be applied more than once to recover bricked units. (see the update instructions)

Developer SDK: Vuzix iWear VR920 can be used with a wide range of applications; some enabled through the iWearMonitor and its iWear Extensions. For the best possible 3D stereoscopic video quality and the smoothest tracking, native iWear support in applications is the way to go. We strongly recommend you contact the publishers of your favorite titles and ask them to add native support for the Vuzix iWear VR920. A Developer Support Program and free software development kit (SDK) is available to assist them.

Ron Haidenger
Product Manager, Consumer Division

Edit: Also see post "Vuzix 3D Stereoscopy - 32 bit only"

Native tracking for Sauerbraten

deleted

Native tracking for Assault Cube

deleted

Native tracking for War§ow

deleted

DO NOT INSTALL FIRMWARE!!!!!!!!

EDIT: The new firmware works great!!
They fixed the problem, and now it won't brick your VR920.
Not only that, the new firmware will unbrick VR920s that were already bricked by the old version.
So ignore the old warning. This will help get rid of the oversensitivity.

2) Also placing a function like a parameter convertion curve in the driver/firmware software. With this one is able to set the sensitivity over individual sections of the input range.

edt: It sounds like the sensitivity is connected to the mouse sensitivity as it seems like the driver 'Hooks' the mouse input. Maybe it's an idea to be able to temporarily adjust this while the VR920's tracking input is active.!! ;)

Thanks
van

Firmware released !!

Enjoy and report back:

http://www.vuzix.com/iwear/support_downloads_drivers.html

New software version, 1.1, launched!

All,

First, I'd like to say that I'm sorry for not being around for the last few weeks, and I apologize for any messages to me I may have missed, or seemed to be ignoring. With the holidays upon us, things have been crazy here in the office. The orders have been flooding in, and we've all been working very hard to keep up with them all, and make sure that everyone gets their packages in time for Christmas.

And, just in time for the Christmas break, we've got our VR920 software installation version 1.1 on the site, ready for download! You can find it here: http://vuzix.com/support/downloads_drivers.html.

To quote the blurb at that site, here are a couple of the features:

- Framework for Vuzix Stereoscopic 3D (look for VR920 Firmware Update in January 2008)
- Improved Microsoft Flight Simulator X Support - includes Vuzix Stereoscopic 3D support
- Improved World Of Warcraft Support - new floating UI feature
- Improved rFactor support - includes Vuzix Stereoscopic 3D support
- New support for Quake 4 and Quake Wars
- New support for Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance

The framework for Vuzix Stereoscopy mentioned here is the proprietary USB method you've heard us talk about. Well, it's finally ready, and it will launch with support for MS Flight Sim X and rFactor. We'll be adding game titles to it as we go, since in needs to be done on a game by game basis, like our tracking support. The firmware upgrade coming in January will actually add the stereo to the game; you won't get 3D until the firmware update, which you'll be able to do yourself using a downloaded program. Another feature that will be in this update will be an increase in color depth; no more 16 bit color depth! We plan on launching the firmware in early January; we've already done some very extensive testing, did a bit of tweaking, and want to do at least one more, maybe two more, weeks of intensive hardware testing before launching it.

Happy Holidays, folks, and thanks for being our customers.

Global editing done this morning

Folks,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I went through the entire forums today, and removed all references of the old business name. As is often the case when a company changes names, it is important to remove old, vestigial, references. In time, legal hassles can arise if this isn't done. So, I went through all the posts, found every reference to the old name, and replaced it with Vuzix. This means that many of you may notice that your posts were edited by me. I took great care to not change the post other than the business name, and did all I could to not affect the intentions of the poster.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Search is now working!

All;

I doubt that I was the only one getting frustrated by the broken Search feature in the forums. Every time you would go to Search, it would log you off, and tell you that you don't have permission to view this page. Well, I finally found the box that needed to be checked in the pages and pages of settings. I went through and upgraded all levels of membership with the ability to search, so there should no longer be problems there. If you are having problems, let me know, and I'll get it fixed.
