I am able to get Flight Simulator X, Unreal Tournament 2004, Music Visualizer, the pack in games, and Stereoscopic Movie Player all working correctly, but RCT3 is the only one that is not working correctly. When I manually set the VR920 to L or R mode, the screen freezes and remains frozen until I change the view mode back. One strange thing is that occasionally when I switch to L or R mode, the frozen image appears stereoscopic. Has anyone else used RCT3 and gotten it to work correctly? Bad times.

This question is related to stereoscopic 3d in second life, but most likely applies to other games also. When I'm using second life in stereo3d, then switch to mouselook, the screen shakes. If I keep the camera just behind the head, its not as bad. It ruins the experience some what because the mouselook is more "immersive".

I have tried changing all the settings in my graphics card and in second life. The only time I can get stereo 3d to an almost usable level, is when I reduce the graphics to the lowest quality, then turn off "opengl VBO (vertex buffer objects)" in the hardware options of second life.

The only problem when I remove opengl's VBO is that any movements feel like my eyes are being cut! (Its a weird feeling when its not on)

Has anyone experienced the shaking problem in stereo3d before? Is it simply that my graphics card (MSI NX8500GT), RAM (1gb) and CPU (intel pentium 4 630) is just not up to a stereo experience?

Thank you for your time :)

IP320 and 3D videos

I have a couple of 3d dvds from Vuzix and want to convert them and use on my IPod. Even performing calibration after calibration, the result was only marginally improved in most cases. After seeing another thread that discussed PSU and monitor interference, I calibrated my HMD and then moved it around my desk, close to the monitor (21" LCD Widescreen), near my desktop speakers (Cambridge Soundworks 5.1), and back and forth over my mid-tower unit, which sits just to the left and forward of my left knee. All this with no effect upon the tracking indicators in the Calibration and iMonitor windows.

Last night, I happened to have my Calibrator window still up when settling in for some FSX attempts with the VR920 (still having some issues), the HSD already secured to my head and receiving signal, and put my headset on. Wow, did my tracking jump! After reading all the explanations of modern speaker electronics and how they shouldn't affect tracking, especially ones designed for computer use, I was surprised to see how much they DID affect it. Moving the headset forward and backward on my head caused the yaw to vary considerably (+- 30) and my pitch and roll just slightly (+- 5). Once the headset was placed in position, my tracking appeared very close to my zero setpoint, however, turning my head and looking around caused erratic yaw and even a noticeable drift. To further test this, I went into FSX without the headset on and my tracking was improved considerably. Two issues still remain (forward-look is skewed about 20 degrees left and considerable "vibration" in image when looking down at instruments), but the sensors followed my head movements much more smoothly than before and with no drift.

Not sure what I'm going to do about this because I'm doing all I can to give the VR920 a fighting chance to impress me, but this headset is by far the best one I've ever owned in terms of comfort and sound (Plantronics Gamecom).

Distorted screen after few minutes in 2D as in 3D stereo

I have a problem with my new VR920 Vuzix. I'm new to the VR920, bought it because I like gadgets and gaming

So far everything went fine, installation, enabled gamelisting and not reading the manual trying to get games to work.

This is where my first impressions and questions arise about the VR920, which, for some of them found an answer in this forum, but for a newbee hard to find or obvious.

------Iwear monitor: Just below the view log button the remark "double click on Titles"

I only saw it after reading about it in the forum!

It's not a logical place for it. For me it would be more logical if it was in pulldown menu.

And what is "double click on Status field" where is that thing? Said I'm newbee, but serious where is it??

(I'm not stupid, I've got a degree in Engineering and science and am older than 40 but I don't get it)

--------The double click titles screen:

I need to install the <dinput8.dll> proxy driver. it will modify... bla, bla, bla. The bla,bla bla I understand, but how do I install this proxy driver???? Is this the same as copiing the thing into the right directory?? Again, I don't know this

First impressions for the Iwear are good quality item. Nose adjusters a bit cheap and uncomfortable, Immersion effect is low, and 4:3 screen a bit disapointing at first.

------------Games questions:

FSX- tracking works, but the zero point is never there were I calibrated it. It's always of to the left or right.

GTR2 - recognized and tracking works, configuration screens of GTR2 are ok but the driver view is rotated 90 degrees. Tracking works however fine and reacts in the right direction . Don't know where the problem lies.

GTL - the software doesn't run it crashes after checking the disk. I had this before with too high AA settings on the normal screen, but in the Vuzix mode I'm already in the lowest settings. (there has been a gtl 3D configuration icon added to the desktop)

Company of heroes, I have no headtracking.

Hardware I'm using:

Intel 9770 dual core extreme, 2x xfx 9800gx2 (tried sli and single mode), 8gbyte memory, 900gig raid5, Vista 64 SP1.

If anybody has some links, suggestions or remarks, please do so.

I'm getting weird display glitch.

When I look at anything in 3d mode when using the visualizer, or playing games I get a weird distortion where half of the screen is sliding to one side. I apologize if this question has been asked before, and if it has I'd really appreciate a link to the appropriate thread. I'll try to keep my query brief.

I have two computers with varying configurations. I'd like to get 3D Stereo working on either one of them and usable on my VR920 HMD. Here's my hardware.

Display: Vuzix iWear VR920 HMD (2 LCDs at 1024x768 resolution)

Computer 1 (Desktop): Area-51 Alienware
OS: Windows XP
Video Card: PNY GeForce FX 5900XT

Computer 2 (Notebook): Dell XPS M1710
OS: Windows XP
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX (Notebook)

So far, the only success I've had is on my Alienware by rolling *all* the way back to the 91.31 Forceware/Stereo. This worked on a few games (such as UT2004) but works incorrectly on the HL2 games and crashes horribly when I run WoW. Obviously I don't want to have to re-install/de-install drivers every time I want to switch between 3D Stereo and actually having WoW work. I haven't had any success tracking down *current* Forceware + Stereo drivers for either machine using Windows XP.

If anyone can offer any sort of help with getting 3D Stereo working with either of my machines, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you!

Stereo problems and defining monitor and vr920

So i got my vuzix on monday, got them working finally on thursday, but there isn't stereoscopic view because apparently 'VR920 3D Stereo Driver' is missing, can't locate anywhere. and my computer cannot tell the difference between my monitor and my vr920, it thinks they are the same thing, so i cannot select them individually. my monitor is called 'Generic PnP Monitor'
its a medion with Win Vista 32bit and a Nvidia 8600GS, please, by all means, treat me like an idiot, i get confused by all the terms like stereoscopic 3D, and Anaglyph and everything. oh, and Hi, i am new here
shaky screen

While my unit works, I am having some issues, and I don't know if they can be resolved or are a design limitation.
When I have my unit set with VR920 as secondary, I get no stereoscopy.

When I set VR920 as primary I get stereo but the image on my monitor is shaky and unreadable.

I'm assuming this has something to do with the stereo being imported to both monitors.

This is a problem because sometimes I need to have a bit better resolution to view guages and such, which I had hoped to do by looking at my monitor occasionally.

So is there any way to solve this or is this just the way it is?

Also, is there any way to disable the head tracking while keeping the stereoscopy?

I'm asking because I may want to use a different tracking system but want to keep the 3d.
I use the unit for the game Aces High2.

VR920, Half Life 2, Vista? anyone?

I just got a VR920.
I am running Vista.
I have Half Life 2 and Half Life 2 : Episode I.

iWearMonitor does not think Half Life 2 is installed.

I have seen others in these forums with the same problem,
but I have not seen any solutions.

Does anyone know of a solution?

Does it just work for anyone?

Cannot get Stereo 3D to work in IL2: Sturmovik 1946

While I have tried quite a few games, my efforts have been mainly focused on IL2 Sturmovik: 1946. The head tracking works great, and the picture quality is adequate. However, I have thus far been unsuccessful in achieving stereoscopic 3D. I'll list a rundown of the steps that I have taken and all the info that I can supply about my problem.

Vuzix software and firmware is fully updated.

IL2 was instantly detected and enabled by the iwear monitor. I manually copied the "d3d8.dll" and "VR920Dx8Stereo.cfg" files into "C://Program Files(x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/il 2 sturmovik 1946" as per the instructions. It goes without saying that I am running the program through Steam.

IL2 starts and runs as normally, and once in-game I press Ctrl+F7 and head tracking becomes active. Then, when I press Ctrl+F8 to enable stereo 3D, nothing happens. The game continues to run with no change at all.

At this point I have run out of ideas as to what to try, and I would greatly appreciate any help whatsoever.

Here's my computer specs:
Windows Vista 64-bit
Nvidia Geforce 8800GT
Intel Core2Duo 2.18Ghz
4GB DDR2 RAM

It should be noted that the vuzix 3D visualizer program DOES work. That is the only program that I have been able to achieve stereo 3D in.

3D not working on games and movies

As posted before...

Hi there, well here's my problem... I've just bought a vr920, it works perfect as my primary screen and to watch movies; but when I try to play my games (Half Life 2, Counter Strike: Source and Second Life) it doesn't work as I expect... I can't see anything but the usual screen in 2d. I've followed all the instructions about the IWear Monitor, but When I try to "Add" my games it doesn't work, I have a different problem for each one, as follows:

Counter strike source, STATUS: Not installed on this system.

When I try to Add it, it says:

STATUS: Installation...Failed to Copy a Critical file...

In second life says:

STATUS: Installation...Unsupported version installed for this extension...

In second life I guess the solution is as simple as installing the version required. But I want to play Counter Strike That's why I bought my vr920! [BigGrin] .

Also I've just downloaded the stereoscopic player and some small movies along with it, but I can't whatch the movies in 3d, I have followed the instructions placed in another post but can't make it work.

BTW, my machine specs are here: http://www.tabletpcreview.com/price/product.asp?productFamilyID=722&productID=

I'm a linux user... it's not confortable to change to xp or vista but I'm trying to use all the vr920 features... hihihi [Wink] I would love to have linux compatibility.. I'll work on it.
I'm sorry about my english.
EDITED. IM IN WINDOWS XP BTW.

Thx for you answers.
3D webcam compatability?

Is there any way to make the product discussed here

Because this would be an amazing AR platform, but I'm not sure I know how to hook the two together.
3d missing or right display black

Seems all of a sudden most games the 3d effect is gone, the games play great, but in 2D mode.
I have to uninstall the Vuzix drivers and reinstall then it works but 'drops' out when I go to play the game later.

Also I usually use the Iz3D drivers (always worked great in the past) but in Bioshock the right screen is black in 3d mode and with no drivers it plays in 2D fine...(And no 3D effect in WoW or others using Vuzix drivers)

I also can not get Stereoscopic player to work correctly now, I choose software pageflipping and the files I use are Field Sequential movies (which I know worked in the past, have used them).

I have the latest firmware, already checked that version.

(I use the VR920 as the only display during these tests)

If you need more info let me know..

Intel I7 920 2.6gig quad core

Asus P6T Deluxe

Corsair 3 gig

2x 260GTX (216) SLi
Vista Home Premium SP1 (and current updates)

Audio sounds really bad

I recentlly bought vr920 and everything works ok except for the built in sound. Sorry if these questions have already been asked, but I couldn't find a FAQ of any sort:

#1: Audio crackling. I am hearing massive crackling in the audio at all times. Obviously it works fine through the laptop's own audio, but for some reason it is loud and unusable through the VR920's phones. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

#2: The display is only seen a clone of the primary display. When I plug in the glasses, Vista sees that I have an external display connected. However, when I have Vista identify the displays, both the monitor and the glasses are shown as "1" (rather than the glasses showing as "2"). This means that the only option I have is to clone the display and keep the laptop's display on at all time (and flickering horribly due to the stereoscopic signal). Is there a way to seperate the displays or perhaps disable the laptop's display?

My setup:
HP tx2500z
Vista Ultimate
2.4Ghz Turion X2
3GB ram
Radeon 3200HD

What firmware version?

How can I find out what firmware version is on my glasses and if I need an update?
